Thinking of enrolling in BlueFit Swimming lessons? Look no further! From infants and pre-schoolers to school aged children, adolescents, and adults, we have progressive, engaging levels for everyone. Here is a look at how our Learn to Swim journey unfolds:
Infants are at the very first stage of their BlueFit Swimming journey. In our Water Play, Aquatot, and Squid levels, parents are required to be in the pool and encouraged to actively participate in the water helping to introduce their little ones to the aquatic environment. The main goal for infants is to gently become comfortable and relaxed in the water through guided activities, play, and songs.
As children grow, they transition into our preschool levels: Clownfish, Starfish, and Penguin. In these lessons, students are in the water without a parent. This stage is all about building water, swimming independently, and mastering basic survival skills, such as floating, submerging, and developing a strong kick. As they reach the final Penguin level, children are introduced to the foundational elements of freestyle and backstroke.
This is where the mechanics of swimming truly take shape. Our school aged program is designed to take complete beginners and mould them into strong, capable swimmers.
Swimming isn't just for little ones! Our Adolescent classes are tailored specifically for teens who want to learn alongside their peers. Whether they are building basic water confidence or refining their stroke efficiency and stamina, this is a pressure-free zone for older kids to thrive.
For those who have mastered the core strokes and want to push their limits, our Squads offer fun, fitness-focused sessions. Under the guidance of expert coaches, advanced swimmers develop competitive racing techniques and long-distance endurance.
We truly believe that swimming is a skill for everyone. Our Adult classes range from complete beginner to advanced, providing a judgment-free, supportive environment to overcome water anxiety or simply refine an existing technique.
Additionally, we are incredibly proud of our DragonFly program, which provides assisted learning and private support for students requiring specialised attention, ensuring every single person has the opportunity to safely enjoy the water.
To help put this progression into perspective, The Pavilion’s BlueFit Swimming instructor Sean shares some key tips about helping parents understand the long term journey for their child and how development looks different for everyone.
‘Parents often expect progress to happen quickly, but learning to swim isn’t always a straight line. Every child develops at their own pace, and the transition through the BlueFit Swimming levels can look different for every student. For some children, moving from building water confidence and basic survival skills into stronger independent swimming takes a little longer for the breathing, coordination, confidence and technical skills to all come together - and that’s completely okay’.
